The perfect place to do not a lot
Our first full day in Samoa was a Sunday, a day of worship, so with most things being closed for locals to attend church it was the perfect time for us to stay put and just get acquainted with the resort. An observation on churches - there are A LOT, to the point I considered they might have the most churches per capita or square foot in the world! Apparently, these titles belong to the Vatican City and Jamaica though.
We started the day with a complimentary breakfast buffet and were all instantly hooked on the “banana pancakes” 🍌 - imagine a deep-fried donut hole (but it’s made of banana bread) and coated in sugar #chefskiss.
Holly and I were dying to go for a swim and were spoilt for choice between the ocean and pool with swim up bar, so we did both. Then, because we’re on holiday, mid—morning seemed like an appropriate time for a cocktail. We then enjoyed lunch before a much needed nap after a very busy and tiring morning 😂
The theme at the Bungalow restaurant was BBQ, a great buffet of breads, salads, cooked veges, and meat! The minute steak and lamb sausages were my faves of the meal.
Our second day was a public holiday for Father’s Day so we planned for another relaxing day at the resort. It started with a swim in the ocean for me, before breakfast and a complimentary massage. After lunch it was back to the ocean for me and Ellieda armed with our snorkels and masks 🤿. There are so many amazing fish 🐠 and I really regretted not having a waterproof camera for this trip! A few cocktails at the beach bar then Mexican night at the Bungalow restaurant. The RSA pours and not watered down cocktails were greatly appreciated!
We had rain for most of our trip but with the next two days forecast for dry weather, we opted to spend a third day doing not a lot. Our itinerary went breakfast, lunch, nap and dinner. But before you start to feel sorry for us, let me remind you we’re on a tropical island, it was still really warm (25 degrees plus) and when we looked at the weather back home and saw 4 degrees, we didn’t feel so disappointed! Plus the silver lining was that the rain only enhanced the beautiful colours of the landscape and there was less chance of sunburn!
