To’sua, beach fales and fia fia

To’sua ocean trench is another place I didn’t want to leave. If I had my time there again, I’d pack a picnic and plan to park up there for most of the day. We arrived shortly after it opened before it got busy and at low tide, I highly recommend doing the same so you can experience it at the best time and without the crowds. It’s a well-equipped spot with changing rooms/toilets and a mini-mart. The entry fee was WST15 per person and payable in cash.

We then drove to Taufua beach fales in Lalomanu, which again you could make a day of, or even stay in one of their fale accommodations. We had lunch at their beachfront restaurant then rented one of their open air fales for a couple of hours which cost WST40. It was a gorgeous spot and was easily the best snokeling we had with 100% visibility, however, the current was very strong so I’d highly recommend flippers even for confident swimmers.

We ended the day with a fia fia cultural show and buffet dinner at the resort. There was kava, pese (singing), siva (dancing), audience participation and siva afi (fire)!
